Research Project Self Assessment

While getting used to this new site to make the story called “story board” I had to work with my peers from the previews collaborative literature review assignment. Even though I did not like working with my peers due to how ineffective they were in the whole projecting leaving me to do most of the work which was the background, characters, story, and even dialogue while they did the minimum of editing and maybe revising. This however let achieve learning goals 3 and 5 as I had to create a story that made sense for children and taught a lesson about a controversial topic such as CRISPR. Especially with the subject of the story being “humanity” as in the story I showcased a boy who was edited differently however had to convey the message that even though he was built different, he is still human. I also had to make sure the audience who I am presenting to also understands the story clearly without being too complicated and using dumbed down wording. This helped me convey the ethical message of CRISPR clearly through a story I “helped” make.

Presentation Self Assessment

During the presentation creation process I had to make sure the background and text was readable and I making sure my peers followed the less but more rule meaning to put less on the screen and simply explain the slides we were presenting. In this assignment I have achieved learning objectives 4 and 3 as well because I had to present what CRISPR is to the audience to make sure it makes sense to them without too much terminology, show an example that will be targeted in the story which is sickle cell and explain the core theme of the story being humanity. I also had to make sure my peers weren’t messing up the slides as well and try to fix their mistakes that the should have fixed themselves. For example, my one peer Angel Martinez wrote a lot on one slide and I told him to not do that and shorten it but he still ended up messing up by having the text overlap on the image.
